HSC Central Utility Plant Concrete Slab and RV Cover
The HSC Central Utility Plant Concrete Slab and RV Cover project (Project No. 2022-08006) was completed at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center in Bryan, Texas. Owned by Texas A&M University – Health Science Center, the project was designed by SZS Architecture, with Wade Zimmer, AIA, serving as Architect of Record.
This project consisted of the ground-up construction of a slab-on-grade facility designed to support utility-ready, covered RV parking for mobile clinic operations. The scope of work included comprehensive civil activities such as site clearing, grading, erosion control, and coordination of utility connections. Structural work involved the installation of a reinforced concrete slab foundation and the erection of a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) canopy.
Architectural services addressed site layout, ADA-compliant access, building elevations, and finishes. Electrical work included RV power connections, panelboards, and interior and exterior lighting systems. Mechanical coordination was provided to accommodate future HVAC needs, as applicable. Plumbing work included installation of an RV dump station, water distribution systems, trenching, and backfill.
Key deliverables for the project included the completed concrete slab and PEMB canopy, full utility hookups, ADA-compliant access features, and final closeout documentation. The project was executed in compliance with ADA requirements, Brazos County Wage Rates, SSC UGSC, and Texas A&M University Health Science Center standards. Special requirements included implementation of a HUB Subcontracting Plan, geotechnical coordination, and comprehensive safety and quality control plans.
